Beauty is…not what you think.
By Tyler Gausvik
What is beauty? Many people claim it is a thing that will make your heart light up with joy upon seeing or hearing it. Others claim it is something intangible such as true love or knowledge. One thing is for certain, most people claim beauty is hard to come by and that you should appreciate the beautiful things in life. Yeah right. Beauty is a lot more common then most people seem to think. It is also in a lot more places then people think it is or care to look for it in. It can be found in the ugliest things. A flower is beautiful but what goes into making such a beautiful specimen? Sure there is the “bright sun,” and the “raindrops,” but I think there are some how you say, overlooked and “ugly” things.
What is an example of such a thing? Dung. Yes, that’s right, dung. But you all say, “Dung is disgusting! Dung is vile! What beauty is there in a pile of dung!” I have to say while I can see where you are coming from, seeing as human waste is not exactly eye-candy nor does it smell all that pleasant, but I would have to disagree with one thinking that there is no beauty in dung. Take the fertilizer and soils that make our grasses and flowers grow. Now tell me, what are those things composed of? No, no not magic dust! It’s DUNG! Without dung we wouldn’t have fertilizer! Without fertilizer what would go missing? If you guessed flowers then you are catching on! Even something as smelly and bad on the eyes as poop can have its own beauty!
But wait! There is more! It isn’t just dung that has its own beauty! You cannot forget about worms! Worms! What is beautiful about worms you say? Plenty, I respond. While the populous seems to think they are ugly, slimy, vile creatures, but I have something for those people to ponder. What do you think moves around in the soil and keeps it usable and allows the roots of plants to grow in it? It may take you a while to figure out so I will help you out. The answer is worms! Without these helpful creatures the soil would be incapable of holding plant roots and the plants would be incapable of growing in soil. Worms have beauty too!
If you thought that was all of my little statement would be then you thought wrong. I have one more beautiful creature to tell about. The creature is? Wasps and bees! WHAT! This is blasphemy you say! All that wasps and bees do is sting us and cause us pain! What good or beauty could they have? For saying such things I might just call you the Blasphemer of Beauty. Bees and wasps pollinate the plants of the world! Without them we would lose a lot of plants! Look out your window and imagine vast majority of the life you see: GONE! And not only that, the planet would lose what animals feed on bees and wasps, and we would lose herbivores. The chain reaction would be ruthless. It would cause a lot of problems. Our pollinators have beauty too.
As I have noted throughout beauty can be found in a lot of seemingly ugly things. Beauty may seem rare and elusive but if you look hard enough you can find it in just about anything. This is what beauty is.

| no ty ty! lol. beauty i everywhere, i agree. but where there is beauty there is a gruetesque being waiting to be found, but hiding all too well. just like the really pretty girls sometimes found in middle school that you'd want to talk to or the cute little dog next door that you've always wanted to play with. but when you finally talk to the pretty girl, she knocks you down, or you finally play with that dog and he bites you in the butt... you remember, right? lol. but even the gruetesque has beauty... so i agree, you just have to find it. meant to say nice, not no... computer's acting up [ Edited by Denial: Please do not double post. | Any writing involving poo earns a gold star in my book. (Or at least a blue one anyway.) Nice stuff there BBS. Although I'm not too fond of using caps to emphasize everything. Other than that, fun stuff. PS: - elodie612 wrote:

Yes. There is. This is the writing section of forum. As such, you post in it to get better at writing. I can't ignore the butchering of the english language.

| Ninja Spoon and elodie612:This is a writing section of the forum, but this is not the correct topic to be having this conversation. The comments in this topic are meant to discuss BBS's writing and his ideas. If you wish to discuss the topic of spelling/grammar further, this topic would better suit your argument. | |
