One of my favourite RPGs and video game. It was released as EarthBound and was a bit of a parody to the RPG genre. It hit Japan on the Famicom aka Japanese NES. The game starred a by named Ninten who was a choosen hero that suffers from asthma. It was translated already but Nintendo stopped production. It can be acquired as a Rom quite easily called EarthBound Zero.
We got Mother 2 aka Earthbound here, which sold poorly. Luckily this game will be on Virtual Console. It starred a boy named Ness who lives in Eagle land (Pretty much American like country.) Now this game the NPCs were actually fun to talk to not just blah blah blah. Really funny stuff. What made this game fun, was how it adapted the real world and made it fantasy like. You weren't a snot nosed punk with a big cliched sword who was 16-20. You 13year old child who was born a savior, and used baseball bats to fight.
Last but not least Mother 3, this was another amazing game. Only translated via patches Starman.net. It stars Lucas a timid boy, and his story. It has strong connections to family, love and about the tragedies of war. These things rang strong in this game. We are introduced by various chapters in this one. Its a very good one worth a look. Its great it goes back to its 16-bit roots, CG games are getting repetitive with no real originality. Sprite based characters are timeless.
Plus Mr. Saturn OWNZ.
